Drawing on notions of ‘chance operation’, the indentations on the glass panel are directly translated from a few moments of rainfall at 86 Princess St., Manchester, where this work was displayed.

The resultant data is presented simultaneously as a sculptural monument and as a sound work.

My aim was to create an object which articulated itself as ‘a continuous state of encounter,’ influenced by Bergsonian notions of Duration, the post-Cagean event score, and an attempt to reconcile the two. The work was commissioned by PINK for Acting on Behalf of Thinking
