This experimental curatorial project was hosted by MA Sculpture ‘24 in the Arts SU Camberwell Space.
I instigated a process of collaborative written response to the callout brief for use of the gallery, posted by the Arts SU. The result was a working title of speaking without speaking - an exploration of language; written and spoken, visual and symbolic, as well as issues around translation. Publicly, this became Sshhh… as a gesture towards alternative language use.
Drawing on notions of site-as-method and exhibition-as-laboratory, we used the gallery as the live site for a programme of workshops and live research, until it reached a final iteration for a finissage event (at which Speak (1962) John Latham, was also screened) and a final weekend’s opening.
In addition to programming, curation, writing and organising artwork loans, I also lead a workshop entitled One Foot In Front of the Other.
